SpaceX Destination Moon....

Watching SpaceX’s progress with their “starship” I can’t help but be transported back to my childhood watching George Pal’s “Destination Moon” on a rainy Saturday.

The story telling is a bit ham fisted in that 1950’s style, but It helped introduce movie audiences of the time to space flight. Interesting the exposition on how US industry had to take the lead on developing the capabilities and a shadowy “someone” trying to thwart their efforts. Also ingenuity a la Apollo 13 to get back home when they hit technical glitch on the moon.

And of course this movie can only be found on YouTube here

Reinventing New York's Woolworth Building

My dad was a lifelong Woolworth’s employee and eventually retired from there almost 50 years later.

As a kid we would go to the office Christmas party each Christmas Eve at the Woolworth building. It was and is still an NYC landmark. It was fun watching this video remaking the landmark for high end residential use.
