Looking for some funky/fusion bass... Check out Tal Wilkenfeld!

I Stumbled across Tal Wilkenfeld while looking for a Charlie Parker album on iTunes.  As I scanned the "Listeners Also Bought" box and saw all the usual suspects (Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, etc...)  Tal's, name caught my eye.  (don't ask me why a line of bass players showed up... I just searched for "Au Privave" and their they were...)  I've never heard of her but you can listen to some of her cuts here.   I highly recommend the album.  She's a very talented bass player and the music is interesting and fun.

An interesting note of coincidence,  I had already seen her play with Jeff Beck at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.  I noticed her but didn't put it together with this album until I checked out her website. She looks very different between the Video performance and her album cover.

Apple Plots Reboot Of iTunes for Web - WSJ.com

ITunes is also facing pressure from competing services that allow users to listen to "streaming" music either cheaply or free on computers or portable, Internet-connected devices like the iPhone or iPod touch.

No kidding... I really like the the Lala website for streaming music but the LaLa Music Mover keeps choking on my > 11,000 music files I'm trying to sync with the service. I'm thinking there needs to be some major investment in infrastructure at LaLa.

Apple listened but acquired LaLa instead of Simplify Media

I know I'm stretching it here, but back in July I blogged a brief plea to apple to add streaming to their product mix... specifically for the iphone.

see here =>  Apple needs to add iTunes streaming to the iPhone a la Simplify!

I actually like the way Simplify works on both my iphone and desktop better than LaLa, but it does seem that LaLa has a better business model.  Read the analysis (Forget overpriced music subscriptions, cheap cloud music heading to iTunes) over at Geek.com

First snow of the season in Hamilton NJ....

You can't see it in the picture but...
Winter Weather Advisory for Trenton NJ until 2009-12-05
... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST
TONIGHT...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST
TONIGHT.

THE RAIN THAT DEVELOPED ACROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING WILL
CHANGE TO SNOW FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST THIS AFTERNOON. THE
SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING AND THEN END AROUND
MIDNIGHT. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO ACCUMULATE 2 TO 4 INCHES FROM THE
PHILADELPHIA METROPOLITAN AREA NORTHWARD. HOWEVER OVER AREAS
CLOSER TO THE COAST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF ONLY AN INCH OR TWO ARE
ANTICIPATED.
BEING THAT THE GROUND REMAINS FAIRLY WARM... MOST OF THE SNOW
ACCUMULATION WILL BE ON UNPAVED SURFACES. HOWEVER... THE SNOW
WILL PROBABLY BE HEAVY ENOUGH TO ALSO ACCUMULATE ON ROADWAYS LATE
THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE
TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED
VISIBILITIES... AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

The pool is finally closed for the season, but still not officially done...

Well National Pools finally installed our pool cover and cleaned out
and closed up our pool for the season, but it's still not officially
finished.

The C of O can not be issued until Final inspections are done and they
couldn't happen until the site is in pristine condition, landscaping
and fence included. The site was only finished last week and National
couldn't recommend leaving the pool open for the few weeks it would
take for the inspections to happen. It's just going to get too cold
to fast for that.

So... We,ll have to wait till Spring for the finals and hope there are
no surprises.
